The Impression of Attention (30 × 30 cm, oil on canvas, 2025) is an intriguing, layered work in which the painting process and the physical traces of action remain palpably present. The canvas functions as an active space where a dense grid of geometric dots enters into dialogue with scratched circles and the tactile texture of the oil paint. By layering, opening up, and partially obscuring tones of icy blue, turquoise, and soft purple, underlying structures persist as guiding forces. This tension between control and material resistance is subtly anchored at the corners by vibrant orange accents. The result is a visual language driven by impermanence, inviting the viewer to look through the layers and unravel the memory embedded in the making process. The painting was recently exhibited at the Poortersloge in Bruges, curated by Jan Verhaeghe.
